What This System Does

The Parashu® Mini Rainwater Harvesting system is a simple, inexpensive, easy to install and maintain system that can be used by almost everyone. Now, for the first time, you can collect rainwater flowing from overhead sheds, rainwater pipes etc., and filter it for daily use — washing, cleaning, wiping floors, bathroom and toilet needs, bathing, and even cooking that requires boiling. Nominal output is at the rate of 100 litres per hour.

It consumes very little power, as it employs a 24 volt pump to do all the hard work.

Who It Is For

Suitable for houses, flats, apartments, bungalows, farm houses, factories, workshops, guesthouses, hotels, camps, hill stations and cities with heavy rainfall like Bangalore (Bengaluru), Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune.

Setup: Simple Steps to Clean, Sparkling Water

  1. Pour rainwater into a bucket or drum.
  2. Push the input pipe into the input of the pump, and the output pipe into the output of the pump. The other end of the output pipe goes into the input of the cartridge housing. You might like to fix the cartridge to the wall, or leave it as it is.
  3. Place the pump on the floor, or on something higher, like a stool.
  4. Fill the input pipe of the pump with water and then immerse it in the bucket or drum.
  5. Switch the electric connection ON.
  6. Once the cartridge housing fills up, clean water comes out of the other end of the housing, which you can collect and start using.

Important Notes

The input bucket or drum is not part of the package; you will need to arrange it.

Care should be taken that the pump is not dry run, else the pump may burn out.

If flow reduces, you will need to change the cartridge. It can be done by hand.

Bonus: Works as an Iron Water Filter Too

When there is no rainfall, you can use the same system to filter iron-laden water into clean water — making it useful all year round, not just in the monsoon.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can the filtered rainwater be used for?

The filtered water can be used for washing, cleaning, wiping floors, bathroom and toilet needs, bathing, and even cooking that requires boiling. Nominal output is 100 litres per hour.

Can the system be used when there is no rainfall?

Yes. When there is no rainfall, you can use the same system to filter iron-laden water into clean water.

What is not included in the package?

The input bucket or drum is not part of the package; you will need to arrange it yourself. Everything else needed for filtration — the 24 volt pump, pipes and cartridge housing — comes with the system.

When does the cartridge need to be changed?

If the water flow reduces, the cartridge needs to be changed. It can be done by hand, without tools.

How much power does the system consume?

Very little. The system runs on a 24 volt booster pump drawing 1.2 amps — approximately 29 watts, less than a ceiling fan.

What precaution should be taken with the pump?

Care should be taken that the pump is not dry run, else the pump may burn out. Fill the input pipe with water and immerse it in the bucket or drum before switching on.
